There were two big announcements from OpenText in January. CEO Mark Barrenechea  announced a subscription pricing model for OpenText EIM products. EIM is a portfolio of products that includes Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Business Process Management (BPM), and Customer Experience Management (CEM).  These products now can be purchased in a subscription model for a defined period of time without an upfront capital investment and are available in OpenText Cloud, which includes managed cloud services as well as public, private and hybrid-cloud hosting.

At the November 2014 OpenText Enterprise World, Barrenechea introduced Core, the company’s first software-as-a-service (SaaS) document management product.  In its initial release, Core was only available to attendees of Enterprise World.  On January 22, 2015, OpenText announced general availability.

This multi-tenant SaaS application enables users to exchange and collaborate on corporate documents in a secure platform.  The interface is very easy to work with. You can give it a spin.

The single user edition is free.  The Team version, for up to 50 users, costs $5 per user, per month, and supports up to 50 GB of storage per user and 25 versions per file. The application is available on any platform and includes an on-line viewer, so you don’t need Microsoft Office and Adobe readers to view files.
